Senior Supervising Psychotherapist

She, Her, hers

Individual Psychotherapy fee $200; Couples fee $220

Johanna is a seasoned therapist who has worked to support children and families in varying capacities over the past sixteen years. She began her journey as an early childcare educator and then focused her studies and training on attachment, childhood development, trauma, neuroscience, grief, and loss through the lens of family dynamics, achieving master’s degrees in Child Life and Family-Centered Care and in Clinical Social Work. Johanna grew up in the Boston area and has had the opportunity to live and travel in other countries, where she thrived in learning cross-cultural perspectives. While working toward her graduate degrees, Johanna participated in international study programs where she focused on mental, emotional, and physical wellness. She has lived in Paris, London, Bangkok, and both the East and West coasts of the US, and she now resides in the Boulder area.

Johanna has been a mental health clinician for individuals and groups within home-based and healthcare settings as well as in school and community environments. She has advocated for and created programs for families who have experienced grief and loss, and she has supported children with chronic illnesses as they transition back into their school environments. In her roles at a major pediatric hospital, at a community urgent and primary care clinic, and as part of a team-oriented home-based mental health organization, Johanna has experienced the profundity of supporting families through a wide range of natural developmental stages and major life transitions, including their unique paths towards parenthood and the challenges of infertility. Johanna’s clinical path has provided a wealth of experiences to guide individuals through the vulnerable aspects of life through compassion and acceptance.

Johanna is clinically educated in psychodynamic theory and practices a mindfulness-based, contemplative approach, and she utilizes a client-centered, relational approach as a contemplative social worker. She is also trained in DBT and brings this modality into her treatment with mothers when helpful and appropriate.

Johanna’s services include individual/couples psychotherapy, family therapy, consulting, parent coaching/support, and clinical supervision.
